Permit for new establishment

Jodoco has been specialized in the development and production of innovative pre-mixtures and complementary animal feeds for 20 years. They have a wide range of products for both the compound feed industry as for self-mixing cattle farmers. They use a wide range of active ingredients, including betaine, organic acids, essential oils and minerals. As a result, the company has extensive product storage and lab facilities.

Until recently, Jodoco nv was active on a production site in Geldenaken. Due to obsolescence of this site and uncertainty about the possibilities to remain active on the site, Jodoco decided to move all facilities to Tienen in 2017. The focus was on an area located at the FeedFoodHealth campus.

Extensive preliminary phase leads to favorable permit

Under the supervision of Profex and in collaboration with Parallel Architects, an environmental permit was obtained in 2018 after an extensive preliminary project. On the more than 7,000 square meters of land, a new office, research, production and storage space was granted. Due to the presence of organic acids, careful consideration had to be given to the containment, so all activities could be carried out without risking the environment. At the same time, the necessary study work had to be carried out for the implantation of the six large silos for betaine. These have to be 25 meters high in order to obtain a high quality end product by means of sedimentation.

Parallel Architects provided site monitoring and safety coordination, which made it possible to build the facilities and infrastructure according to a tight schedule. From September 2019, Jodoco nv will be operationally active on the new site. Since then, Tienen and the FFH campus have been the operating base of this highly innovative company and the skyline of Tienen is also determined by the betaine silos.

Currently, Profex has been appointed as environmental coordinator at Jodoco nv, so operations can always be carried out in accordance with current environmental legislation.
