Demolition follow-up plan for infrastructure works

A new development is being planned in a street in Ghent. For this purpose, the entire street, including the sewerage system, will be demolished and rebuilt. Our experts drew up a demolition follow-up plan for this project.

Since the demolition volume is higher than 250m³, a SOP is needed to accompany the environmental permit application. Moreover, we always draw up our demolition follow-up plans in accordance with Tracimat's guidelines, guaranteeing the follow-up and traceability of the waste materials. This was also a requirement for this project.

Thorough fieldwork results in a detailed report

Our field workers carry out 3 core drillings in each type of hardening present in the street. This involves the street in asphalt, the pavement in concrete slabs and the parking spaces in bricks. When drilling in asphalt, we have an analysis carried out on the core head. In this way we find out whether it is tarred or not. In addition, we describe which materials are underneath the pavements in order to provide a complete overview of the substances that will be released during the demolition work. For each waste, we name the material, indicate whether it is a dangerous or non-dangerous waste and describe volume, mass and surface area.

After the necessary fieldwork, our experts draw up the SOP. In the inventory we write down in detail which materials are present in which amounts. Together with the results of the lab, we can conclude this project has zero dangerous waste materials present. The site is therefore not considered to be a focus site.

Profex delivers the final report to the client so the SOP can be added to the environmental permit application. In addition, we also take care of the submission to Tracimat in order to obtain the declaration of conformity.

PARTAGER CE MESSAGE:

What did Profex?

  • Pre-study

  • Set-up of an inventory of all waste materials that will be released during decomposition.

  • Recommendation and advice demolition follow-up: possibilities of their reuse or processing.

  • Drill description: for each drill we give a detailed description of what we found (e.g. x cm asphalt, x cm concrete, x cm crushed stone,...).

  • Testing results: in the case of asphalt, a core drill is always carried out and this core goes to the lab for analysis of whether the asphalt is tarred or not. If the underlayer is suspected of containing asbestos, we also take samples of it and send them to the lab.

  • Carrying out drilling (fieldwork), we always go on site ourselves and carry out the necessary drilling and take samples where necessary.

  • Submit SOP to Tracimat
